Free Keyword Research Tool [Updated]

When doing the work of search engine optimization, sometimes it’s good to find multiple sources for related keywords. I had this software developed for our own use in-house, and have decided to release it free of charge.

The software is written in Java, and should work on any Mac, Windows, Linux, or mobile device that allows Java. All you have to do is download the zip file, extract, and open the file named MetaSnatcher.jar.

If you found this tool useful I would appreciate it if you could comment below. Additionally you may distribute this to anyone you think may find it helpful.

[Update] some people noticed this tool was hanging on certain websites. I have asked my programmer to update the software with a timeout for sites that don’t respond. Additionally it has been enabled with multithreading and is now approximately 500% faster.

Thanks Brad for the great tool. I am trying to use it and could not understand the analysis. I gave a keyword and found its results. My word was present and even some other words were present. There were some irrelevant words were too present. So what do I take it for and this tool gives the count of words present in which section??? Meta title, or meta keyword or text or what exactly and it searches for how many pages.

  • Thanks a lot, Brad.  This is a great tool!
I can use it to really drill down deep to get those hidden gems.

Very kind and generous of you to give it -FREE!!

    Keep 'em coming.

    Best regards,

    Hi Brad,

Firstly thanks a lot for this tool. I´m going to come over as a complete noob now but, where is the MetaSnatcher.jar located ? I have looked in all the folders but I´m unable to locate it..

  • Paul did you extract the zip file?

  • Paul Hamilton

    Hi Brad,

Yes all the files have been extracted and are in a folder on my desktop.

  • Paul,

I am not sure what to say, we have hundreds of successful users now. Can you tell me more about your configuration? What showed up in the folder?

If you are on a mac I may know the issue. Posting here will help others.

  • Paul Hamilton

  • Paul Hamilton

Thanks Brad, that was the problem. I´ll report back to you with my results !

  • Tim

I have the same problem launched my Nokia Ovi instead..Virus??

  • No it's not a virus.

  • very impressive. Million Thanks !!

  • I am glad you like it:-)

  • Brad Thanks! I am a big fan of KW tools. In fact quite often I enjoy it so much I rarely get past the research phase, as I just keep researching and researching. This should allow me to spend even more time looking for keywords!

  • One of the reasons why I very rarely do keyword research. I prefer to just go after extremely high value terms.

This does however show me the next level of value that my competitors are using.

Don't lose focus on the big prize. SEO is more about link building than keyword research :-)

Brad, I 'd just like to thank you. I have'nt used this software yet, but it's refreshing to finally have someone out there that cares enough to give us something that is actually useful. I have been trying for years to get an online business going ( have'nt been doing so well) and there's just so much crap out there that the average person like myself just gets lost to the point that I don't even know where to begin. I'm smart on idea's and dumb on know how. So any know how you would like to share would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again. Gary.

  • Gary

My biggest hope is that this software reach the largest number of SEO workers it can. Feel free to tweet, digg or send this to a friend who can use it too.

    All the best :)
    Brad

I love doing keyword research. This will help me a lot on creating a broad seed list of keywords. Thanks Brad.

  • Awesome, I have also found it useful. It provides a new perspective and data source.

  • gourmetcoffeesnob

  • alessandrozamboni

Thanks Brad, I really appreciate new software to test and discover.
And finally something different from copy and paste software I've seen until today :)

That's a great quality tool to receive keywords from top websites, so you can analyze better your competitors and get optimal results in keyword research.

I really like your work Brad, well done, I will use it on daily basis !

    Thanks and Goodbye,
    by Alessandro Zamboni

  • I am so glad you can use it. I want to provide you with more tools so please share your ideas :)

  • marklyford

Nice one Brad thanks very much :)

  • Send it to your list man!

  • marklyford

Not until Ive added it to IMP then I will ;)

  • Interesting. It appears that it looks at some top sites and grabs the keywords they are using if one were to search for the inputted keyphrase... is that what it's doing?

  • That's exactly what it does :)

  • Karel

Thanks for this tool, but how do I open a .jar file?

  • You need to be running a version of java, then you should be able to double click.

  • gourmetcoffeesnob

...I thought java is coffee...guess not cause I sure can't get this thing to work...there are tons of files in tons of folders...I've opened em all...double clicked on all of em...this thing makes google look like a genius...I'm so messed uP with this thing I'd even consider RTFM...if I could find it...

  • Oh ok, that's what I thought.

    Thanks again.

  • Great little tool! Faster than using Google tool and MS for quick kw research.

Quick question...what's the meaning of the top numerical bar?

    Thanks a lot Brad.

  • Those are the # of times the word was found.

  • Thanks Brad,

Always happy to try out new tools and see what's going on.

    Cheers,
    Shane

  • Awesome Shane enjoy :)
